How do I apply for a Student Loan under
the Ontario Student Assistance Plan (OSAP)?
OSAP’s objective is to help students from lower-income families meet the costs of postsecondary education. OSAP is intended to promote equality of opportunity for postsecondary studies by providing financial assistance for educational costs and basic living expenses. You (and your family, if applicable) are responsible for meeting the basic costs of your postsecondary education.
The purpose of OSAP is to supplement, not to replace, the financial resources that you (and your family, if applicable) are expected to contribute. OSAP is based on financial need as determined by OSAP through an assessment of your application. Educational costs (such as tuition fees, books and supplies, basic living expenses), and the resources OSAP expects you (and your family, if applicable) to contribute, are taken into consideration. The purpose of OSAP is not to supply all the assistance you may need to meet your educational and living costs.
