Senior Homeowners' Property Tax Grant

The Ontario government is making it easier for more seniors to stay in their homes

The 2008 Ontario Budget includes a new property tax grant for seniors with low and moderate incomes who own their own homes.

Under the plan, up to $250 more will be made available to approximately 550,000 seniors in 2009. By 2010, this will rise to $500.

When combined with the existing property and sales tax credit to seniors, some seniors could see up to $1,075 in total tax relief in 2009, and up to $1,325 in 2010.

This is just one more example of how the Ontario government is working for seniors

Our government is also increasing support for community services like home care, funding more staff at long term care homes and continuing to invest in health care.
